Homemade NeoCitran

Is there anything better than curling up with a steaming mug of NeoCitran when we have a cold and can't breathe?

NeoCitran is great, but when we're sick and our noses are sore and chafed, do we really want to make that trek to the store? Not me...

Here is a homemade version of a cold remedy that has anti-inflammatory properties, that it helps with congestion of the nose and throat, and helps with digestion.

  1. (optional) Thinly slice 1 clove of garlic  and about 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger
  2. Heat water either on stove-top or microwave.
  3. Cut 1 lemon, squeezing juice through a strainer to catch all of the seeds- you can even drop a few wedges right in, rind and all. The lemon oils from the rind are good for you!
  4.  1 tablespoon honey

  5. Curl up with a good book and your favorite blanket.

You can make as much as you like, and make it as strong as you like. Leaving a pot of it on the stove, or heat up in a microwave  - the longer it steeps, the more flavorful it becomes, and the more nutrients are released from the ingredients.
The best cure is prevention.
Eat well, exercise and drink plenty of water. And if you do come down with a cold, drink up a lot of this!
