Reigning queens of beauty have used honey in their hair and
skin care regimes for decades.
Today, increasing numbers of men and women are finding honey
is the natural choice for soft, supple skin and shining healthy hair.
Straight from Nature
From face creams to body scrubs; from hair conditioner to
bubble bath, honey provides a natural source for personal care products.
Honey needs no preservatives, additives, processing or
refining, making it one of the few beauty products that can claim it comes
straight from nature.
Honey is a natural humectant. That means it has the ability to attract and
retain moisture.
Honey’s mild enough for sensitive skin and baby products,
and its antioxidant properties make it an ideal choice for lifelong skin and
hair care.
Research is continuing to introduce honey in sunscreen
products, exfoliants and moisturizers.
All Natural Beauty
While many of these products are available in stores and
beauty salons, there are many skin and hair care ‘recipes’ that can be made and
used at home.
Here are some examples:
Cucumber-Honey Toner
Puree 1 medium cucumber in a blender and drain the liquid.
Add 2 teaspoons Honey and mix.
To use:
Shake the bottle and saturate a cotton pad with the toner.
Sweep over face, neck and chest and let air-dry.
Gentle Honey Cleanser
Wet the face with warm water.
Place a small amount of honey in your hands (Usually less
than a teaspoon is plenty) and rub your hands together.
Massage in to skin in a circular motion to get all areas of
the skin.
Optional: Leave on for 5-10 minutes for deep pore cleansing.
Wash off with warm water and pat dry.
Honey Shampoo
Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey to one cup of warm/hot water,
stir together.
Pour onto your dry hair, making sure to work into scalp (you
might need to add 3 or 4 teaspoons of honey and 2 cups warm water for long
hair).
Let sit a minute or two.
Rinse out.
Honey Hair Mask
1/2 cup raw, organic honey
2 ripe bananas
1/2 cup olive oil
Blend ingredients together until a pureed consistency.
Apply from top of head to tips of hair.
Leave on for at least 10 minutes. Cover with shower cap.
The banana can stick to the hair shafts a bit, so you might
need to add more oil depending on hair length, or you can wash twice to remove
any residual mask away.
Bananas are great for soothing an itchy scalp and moisturize
hair.
Here are some great items you can buy at the store:
