SKINCARE MISTAKES WE ALL MAKE

When it comes to taking care of our skin we aren't perfect, we are all guilty of sleeping with makeup on or picking at a blemish every now and then.

Here are some skincare mistakes to avoid and hopefully it will improve your skin issues like wrinkles, sunburn and aging.

Picking or Touching your Face

Most of the time I don’t even realize I’m doing it, but touching your skin or picking at pimples can be seriously bad for your skin.

Every time you touch/pick at your skin you are putting dirt, oils and anything else you may have on your fingers onto the skin and into pores.

There is also a risk of leaving scars and holes on the skin causing more damage.

Over Exfoliating

Scrubbing your skin with a harsh facial exfoliator every day will strip the skin of natural oils.

Exfoliate a couple nights a week and gently scrub away dead skin cells and dirt.

Sleeping with a Makeup on

Guilty!

Sleeping with makeup on may cause eye infections, wrinkles, breakouts, broken eyelashes and clogs pores.

Each night you sleep in your makeup, your pores become more clogged. Eventually, this can result in the buildup of bacteria to your pores causing more breakouts and enlarged pores.

Sleeping with mascara and eye liner can result in your eyelashes becoming clogged, brittle, breaking or falling out faster.

Skipping Moisturizer

No matter what your skin type is, moisturizing is a very important step in a skincare routine.

Sometimes an excess of oil can mean that your skin is begging for more moisture.

When shopping for a new moisturizer, be sure to read the labels and reviews, because most of the time they’ll let you know if they benefit certain skin types.

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Crème is a refreshing light moisturizing cream with jojoba oil & vitamin E, it spreads easily and is quickly absorbed.

derma e® Soothing Oil-Free Moisturizer is a light moisturizing cream blended with Vitamin E, A and C and is fragrance free. It is excellent for sensitive skin and leaves skin silky and nourished.

Not using SPF

I say this in almost all of my skincare posts but it is so important. Before you leave the house, even on an overcast day, be sure to finish off your daily skincare routine with sunscreen!

Not Using the Right Products for your Skin Type

Skin needs balance and it's important to know what your skin type is before applying products to it.
For example, if you have oily skin, but you choose products designed for dry skin, the products are probably not effective.

Your skin type can also change over time depending on the elasticity of your skin, how much oil it produces, genetics, and other factors.

Even seasonal changes or your habits can change your skin type.

Having hot showers

Hot showers and baths always feel good but to avoid stripping away natural oils in the skin, choose lukewarm water to wash your hands, face and body.

Always try to rinse face with cold water to help tighten the appearance of my pores and rinsing hair with cool water will add a beautiful shine.

Good night sleep

Getting enough sleep is good for you mentally but you will notice eyes don't look tired, skin doesn't look dull and is much more plumped if you get enough sleep on a regular basis.
